Hey there, I'm Steve! I'm a musician and educator with a passion for helping guitarists achieve their goals. Back in 2016, I launched Let's Talk About Math Rock, a channel dedicated to teaching math rock style guitar. Since then, it's grown to over 100k subscribers, and I've had the pleasure of guiding countless guitarists on their math rock journey.
My YouTube Channel
I make videos based around a number of educational topics such as guitar chords and chord progressions, guitar techniques, guitar advice, guitar gear, song analysis. I also share some of my own music from time to time, and create community focused content through a series called Super Tuning Friends. It's also how I justify my obsession with buying telecasters. Currently the channel has over 125k subscribers and 11 million views.
Math Rock Essentials
An enormous undertaking I started in 2018 was to create the first math rock focused guitar eBook to help guitarists master the fundamentals of math rock guitar. I didn't want to do this alone though so I had the idea of getting the community involved to learn what are the common problems, frustrations, and goals they have. And over a fan-funded period of 3 years of testing and feedback resulted in a 94 page guide on what I believe to be one of the best materials out there for mastering the fundamentals of math rock guitar.
Courses
As part of my mission to educate, inspire, and motivate guitarists I created in-depth workshops around key topics to help them be a better musician. It also gave me an excuse to get extra geeky about the stuff I already love. Thanks community!
